Here we are leaving for Heathrow.

We were greeted with a glass of champagne and ushered to our plush Premium Economy seats but 11 hours on a plane is tedious however you look at it isn't it? I managed all but one chapter in the Backroom Boys, read Fly Past magazine, finished the Guardian cryptic crossword, and still we were at 30,000 feet. Anyway we made it to the motel via San Francisco evening rush hour and the Golden Gate bridge.
Jeanne came over and gave us a quick tour of San Rafael before taking us for a beer (brewed on the premises) and a pizza. We managed to stay awake until almost 10pm before falling into bed.

Beer is getting to be the in thing in the US. "Pubs" here are full of tap handles for beers you've never heard of but might like to try and many of them are from small local breweries.
